Sugar-Free Treats to Share Your Love This Valentine’s Day

Sugar-Free Treats to Share Your Love This Valentine’s Day

With both Super Bowl tailgate parties and Valentine’s Day celebrations, February is all about being with and sharing with those you love. A great way to share your love this Valentine’s Day is by sharing tasty treats, but before you buy a box of cookies from your favorite cookie shop, consider looking at the nutrition facts first. You will most likely find that one cookie contains more than half of the recommended daily sugar intake for a 2,000-calorie diet.

What’s so wrong with sugar?

Sugar can have many negative effects on your health, such as increasing your risk of heart disease, depression, and weight gain. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 25 grams of added sugar a day for women, while no more than 36 grams of sugar is recommended for men. Just a simple chocolate chip cookie from some popular cookie shops can contain more sugar than the daily sugar recommendation for women.

This does not mean that sweet treats are completely off the menu for your Valentine’s party! Instead, consider making some of your own desserts that are low in sugar but still high in deliciousness. If you are looking for the perfect sugar-free treats to share with your loved ones this Valentine’s Day, keep reading for some healthy, easy Valentine’s Day treat recipes!
