It’s no surprise that making minor changes to your diet and lifestyle can make a huge difference when trying to decrease your risk of heart disease or lose weight. Reducing sugar consumption, drinking more water, and exercising, even in just small amounts, can all work together to enhance your health in the long run.
Making slight adjustments, however, doesn’t mean you have to completely change your lifestyle and sacrifice those seemingly “unhealthy” habits forever. For example, decreasing sugar consumption, as stated above, has been proven to effectively improve heart health. To successfully decrease your sugar consumption, you may think you have to completely sacrifice your favorite sugary desserts. But that isn’t necessarily true.
Laying off sugar doesn’t mean you have to lay off all your favorite sweet treats as well. There are still ways to satisfy your sweet tooth without added sugar. Maybe all you need is an alternative to sugar instead. If this is the case, Sweetleaf’s Indulge Granular may be the perfect solution.
Why do I need a sugar alternative?
To explain why a sugar alternative may be a great option for someone trying to better their health, we first must discuss why people may want to cut back on sugar, specifically added sugar. Sugar can have many negative long-term effects, such as an increased chance of heart disease, depression, weight gain, acne breakouts, and high blood sugar, if you consume too much of it. But how much is too much?
According to the American Heart Association, women are recommended to consume no more than 25 grams of added sugar a day, while no more than 36 grams of sugar is recommended for men. A single typical chocolate chip cookie, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, can contain 15 grams of added sugar. Therefore, just two chocolate chip cookies can already exceed the recommended daily added sugar intake for women. If you love to satisfy your sweet tooth multiple times a day without watching the amount of added sugar you are consuming, you may be at risk of those negative effects of sugar listed above.
The American Heart Association also says sugar alternatives are a great way to establish a heart health diet, reduce your daily calorie intake, regulate blood glucose levels, and help maintain a healthy weight. You get the sweet taste of sugar without the negative risks that are associated with sugar. This is exactly what you can find with Sweetleaf’s delicious and healthy sugar alternative, Indulge Granular.
